EXTENSION  HISTORY

WHAT IS EXTENSION HISTORY ABOUT?

HSC History Extension involves the study and evaluation of the ideas and processes used by historians to construct history. Students also have the opportunity to design, undertake and communicate their own personal historical inquiry.​ History Extension is a 1 unit subject that can be studied in Year 12 only by students who are also studying Ancient and/or Modern History as one of their subjects.

WHAT IS HISTORY?

In the 'What is History?' topic students develop their understanding of significant historiographical ideas and methodologies

CASE STUDY

Students will also explore areas of debate within a specific case study. E.g. Elizabeth I and the Elizabethan Age, the Salem Witch Trials, or The Assassination of JFK.

WHO SHOULD CHOOSE EXTENSION HISTORY?

People who have an interest in the world that we live in and the forces that shape the present day would benefit from studying Modern History. The focus on developing skills in understanding the motivations of individuals and groups, and ideas and their impacts develops further the understanding of the modern world.
