HISTORY IN YEARS 11 & 12
Students have the option to study one or more History subjects in the senior school. In Year 10 they can decide to study Ancient and/or Modern History for Years 11 and 12. Students who study one or both of these subjects for their HSC may also elect to study Extension History as an additional 1 unit subject for Year 12.
Ancient
History
In Ancient History students study a range of societies, cultures, events and influential people from the Ancient World. Topics include Spartan Society, Pompeii and Herculaneum, Tutankhamun's Tomb and Women in Greece and Rome.
Modern
History
In Modern History students study events ranging from the Russian Revolution to power and authority and the rise of ideologies in the first half of the 20th Century. Other topics studied include the Cuban Revolution, the Cold War and the Cultural Revolution to Tiananmen Square.
Extension
History
In Extension History students will learn about the nature of history with the focus of this course being historiography. You will learn how and why historical interpretations are developed from different perspectives and approaches over time.
